That "jaw-jaw" quote sounds familiar, but I have no idea where I've heard it. My guess, not having read the article or anything, is that it means it's better to talk than fight, diplomacy is better than war, yada yada yada. And since I was curious, I went ahead and googled it for you, and apparently it's a quote by Winston Churchill. Huh.

I know Margaret Atwood as the author of The Handmaid's Tale, although I still need to read that one. Actually, I think the only book of hers I've read is Oryx and Crake, but she has plenty more. I never knew she was an expert in debt and whatnot though.

Churchill, of course. They love quoting him.
