This week both Tucker and Sean watched all of the same movies (except the last one), which never happens. Well be back to watching completely opposite crap from each other next week.
0:00:00 - 0:19:12 - First up is Pacific Rim (2013), directed by Guillermo Del Toro, starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Clifton Collins Jr., and Ron Perlman. In this section we also discuss The Iron Giant, Star Wars, Sealab 2020, Miyazaki, Blade Runner, The Thing, the 2 new Keanu Reeves trailers, and Giana Michaels. We also talk about the disgusting conversation that has surrounded this film, where the nerd internet monolith decided it understood how the box office worked instead of actually talking about the movie.
0:19:13 - 0:32:10 - Next we talk Drug War (2013), directed by Johnnie To, starring Louis Koo, Sun Honglei, and Crystal Huang. Also in this section we talk about Heat, Collateral, Darkman, and Terrence Malick.
Gonna come out and say it, we love this movie.
0:32:11 - 0:48:54 - Next we watched Only God Forgives (2013), directed by Nicholas Winding Refn, starring Ryan Gosling, Kristen Scott Thomas, Vithaya Pansringarm, and Ratha Phongam. In this section we talk about Cannes controversy (and the kind of directors who continually court that - Von Trier, Haneke, Cronenberg), the critical dogpile on the film, the Pusher trilogy, the Believer, Murder By Numbers, James Wood, and Ryan Gosling's recent career. Also we talk about the Out of the Furnace trailer, Two Guns, the new kind of on-location mainstream filmmaking.
0:48:55 - 0:55:32 - Kind of ancient homework but Sean had Tucker watch Passion (2012), directed by Brian De Palma, starring Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams, Karoline Herfurth, Paul Anderson, Rainer Bock. Also in this section we discuss Working Girl, Femme Fatale, Redacted, the film it is a remake of Love Crime, the work of Dario Argento, Fincher doing Dragon Tattoo, pegging, and how super super dumb Germans are in this film.
0:55:33 - 1:07:18 - Still homework, Tucker had Sean watch Snowtown (2011), directed by Justin Kurzel, starring Lucas Pittaway, Bob Adriaens, and Louise Harris. Also discussed in this section: Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer, the real life case this film is based on, and Animal Kingdom.
1:07:19 - 1:14:50 - And finally Tucker watched Monsters, Inc.(2001), directed by Pete Docter, Lee Unkrich, and David Silverman, starring John Goodman, Billy Crystal, and Steve Buscemi. Also discussed here are other Pixar films, Two Girls One Cup: The Sitcom, and Rick and Morty. Oh, and the movies we might see next week.
Outro song: Mary McGregor's "Good Friends" from Meatballs.

Really good episode, guys. I completely agree on Drug War being the film of the year so far. Hell, it's probably the best film since 2006 (Election II) - which just goes to show how much I love To.

I really liked the music in Pacific Rim too. It sounded like a grandiose, old cartoon to me. I guess I'm talking about Night on Bald Mountain. It really worked.
