This week we have returning guest host Morgan Jeske, who came on to discuss:
0:00:00 - 0:42:47 - both Morgan and Sean watched all of Hannibal season 1, from showrunners Bryan Fuller and David Slade, starring Hugh Dancy, Mad Mikkelsen, Laurence Fishburne, Scott Thompson (Why that's ludicrous!), Eddie Izzard, Lance Henriksen, Gillian Anderson, Caroline Dahvernas, Kacey Rohl, Gina Torres, Anna Chlumsky, and Dan Fogler. Fishburne doesn't take his shirt off once. BOO.
John Lithgow on the only other movie podcast that matters Doug Loves Movies.
0:42:48 - 0:58:03 - Related very closely to Hannial is Manhunter (1986), directed by Michael Mann, starring William Petersen, Brian Cox, Tom Noonan, Dennis Farina, Joan Allen, Stephen Lang, and Kim Griest.
0:58:04 - 1:23:17 - HOMEWORK - Morgan asked Sean to watch To Live and Die In La (1985), directed by William Friedkin, starring William Petersen, Willem Dafoe, John Pankow, and Darlanne Fluegel. Watch the insane trailer for it.
NEXT TIME - A STUFF THING PLEASE TO ENJOY FOR YOU
Martin Amis's essay/review collection The War Against Cliche includes a deadly takedown of the novel Hannibal which laments the book precisely because Amis regards the author's prior novels so highly. Amis contends that it's a case of a fine popular/literary novelist taking a sharp turn into utter hackdom.
I'll have to watch Blow Out again and look for the Lecter. There's a lot of Bette Davis drag routine in Hopkin's performance too.

Man, I gotta read that. I'm a big believer in the merits of Red Dragon.
