Nate Patrin has some opinions on the synthesizer, including but not limited to the idea that it is more important to the evolution of popular music than the guitar. That's right! The keyboard is more important than the guitar! And with that, Beat Connection presents an investigative series on this thesis - one which will focus on a different synthesizer-inclined musician each episode. We begin here, with the god Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno.
This episode zeros in six songs as a window into Eno's extensive discography: "Chance Meeting" from Roxy Music (1972); "Baby's on Fire" from Here Come the Warm Jets (1973); "Sing Saw" from Another Green World (1975); "Quartz" from Music for Films (1978); "Regiment" from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (1981); and "Even Better Than the Real Thing" from U2's Achtung Baby! (1991). Bring forth the guillotine!
