After the break, check out the latest episode of Travis Bickle on the Riviera, with your hosts Tucker Stone, Celia Mattison & Morgan Jeske!
0:00 - 25:02
First up? we're catching up with Carey Mulligan's adventure outside of period dramas, Promising Young Woman (2020). We go into this one for a while. If you're short on time or patience with Tucker, Celia nails the movie at the opening and the general concerns regarding "the ending" and then head over to check out what Chris Ready had to say. Then hurry on back so you can check out the fiasco that was our plan to:
Spend Some January With Jamie
25:03 - 51:25
It's Any Given Sunday (1999) from Oliver Stone! It features Matthew Modine, James Woods, Al Pacino, LL Cool J, Cameron Diaz, Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Aaron Eckhart, Bill Bellamy, John C. McGinley, Elizabeth Berkley, Charlton Heston, Lela Rochon, Ann-Margret, Lauren Holly & Andrew "Zangief" Bryniarski. Jamie plays "Steaming Willie Beamen". We also talk a bit about The Fan (1996) as a Tony Scott cocoon point. At the end, Tucker explains his understanding of sports movie continuity, and we reminisce on Beautiful Girls (1996), a notorious "you're talking to a creep" movie.
51:26 - 1:14:10
Then it's time to talk about Stealth (2005) which isn't even a Jamie Foxx movie. It's a goddamned Josh Lucas movie! It also features Jessica Biel, the voice of the guy from Prison Break, Joe Morton and Sam Shepherd, and the music of the band Incubus. Then we talked about the technical nature of Josh's eyeballs--make sure you break out the Dune trailer to compare! Rob Cohen made this one, you can read all about the most recent assault allegations made against him by Asia Argento which came out days after we recorded. Tucker only vaguely remembers the original allegations of child abuse made against him, the article covers all that as well. Things got extra awkward during this part because Morgan accidentally took a screengrab of us. Josh Lucas listens to Snow Patrol in this movie. It's real deal shitbag stuff! At the end we vividly explain childbirth and Celia calls Sam Shepherd the "fanciest man".
1:14:10 - 1:40:05
Then it's time for Law Abiding Citizen, from F. Gary Gray, with Gerald Butler's butt, Colm Meaney's hair, Viola Davis getting paid, Bruce McGill's genius, Leslie Bibb's physical presence, Josh Stewart, Tucker's old high school pal Michael Kelly, Roger Bart from The Insider, Regina Hall being confused, Gregory "24" Itzin (Tucker deserves a commendation for not only speaking about 24 the entire time) and Jamie, as "Nick Rice". What a name! Gerald Butler's character is named "Clyde". Who cares! A totally disgusting experience. At the very end Tucker talks a little about Mighty Ducks, and they figure out the secrets of Mission Impossible!
